REBORN KYOTO is a Japanese NGO and works to nurture the independence of the women and young in developing countries through instruction of cloth fabrication and textile technology using donated Kimono from all over the Japan.
Starting from 1979, we have expanded our activities into 7 countries.
We have started new project in our 8th country, the Republic of Rwanda since July 2013, named “Life Empowerment Project Through Acquiring High Level Clothes Fabrication Skills”. This project is co-supported by “the Grant Assistance for Japanese NGO Project” conducted by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
Targeting economically disadvantaged young adults aged from 16 to 35 (mainly women), the advanced training course to acquire high level clothes fabrication skills has been offered at the public vocational training center in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda. In the course, trainees can actually practice using electric industrial sewing machines, that were firstly offered to dress-making courses held by international cooperation agencies and NGOs in Rwanda. All courses are taught and supervised by both Rwandan and Japanese dress-making experts. The project is highly evaluated and expected in Rwanda.
